Synopsis
Episode 3
Backstory (rough outline!)
- thousands of years ago in Minecraftia, a group of powerful mystics
formed a secret order to study and weave a forbidden magic. They called
themselves The Order of the Nether
- far from civilization and deep beneath a desert, they built their
laboratories and libraries and created a Portal to the Nether realm.
- The Order recruited many Minecraftians (soldiers, monks, adepts, knights) to serve their needs and further their goals
- the Order built strongholds in both realms to protect the portals
- the mystics “harvested” resources from the Nether, plant and animal, to use in their studies and dark experiments
- but the Nether was brutally hot and the air filled with sulfur and
ash, and the minecraftians didn’t take well to the conditions, falling
ill and/or dying well before their time.
- thus the mystics performed experiments on their own subjects,
transforming men and women into horrible, mindless Nether-zombies that
could withstand the harsh conditions
- word of these deplorable acts spread and a group of monks and knights
stirred a rebellion against the mystics and took control of the
Minecraftia-side stronghold, but the mystics and their Zombie-hordes
still held the Nether-fortress
- the mystics sent wave after wave of undead thru the Nether-portal to
take back the Minecraftia stronghold and the rebels, unable to replace
their fallen comrades, were losing rapidly due to attrition
- nearly defeated, the rebels realized their only hope to end the
invasion was to destroy the Nether-portal and prevent the mystics from
repairing it
- thus the rebels hatched a most desperate plan: a last-ditch
counter-attack into the Nether, a suicide mission, with every last man
and woman.
- this counter-attack was merely a diversion, however, as a small band
of the rebels’ best warriors (dubbed the Obsidian Knights) would break a
chunk of obsidian from the Nether-portal and carry it off into the
Nether, hiding it from the Mystics.
- the rebels were successful and eventually the mystics died off, one by
one, unable to sustain themselves in the Nether for long as they
searched for the enchanted chunk of Obsidian.
- only a few Minecraftians did not join the counter-attack and were left
behind to destroy the dark works of the mystics, seal the place up, and
stand vigil for as long as they could.
- and for thousands of years the stronghold was all but forgotten….
- …until it was rediscovered around 200 years ago by a historian who
built the town above the stronghold, to study the place and learn of the
ancient inhabitants and their fate….
- the historian disappeared and the place was forgotten again until an
adventurer by the name of Pablo Punchwood happened upon it… brought
there by accident or destiny? Only time will tell is Never!
